- AutoCAD is one of the CAD industry’s leading tools but it wasn’t until 2010 that Autodesk finally released AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT for Mac. You can download AutoCAD LT as a Mac desktop client and you can also use it online via the AutoCAD LT web app.
- What they are doing is making the Mac OS work with the Intel chip instructions. A present day analogy would be you can currently run Windows on and Intel chip you can also currently run any flavor of Linux you want on that same Intel chip, yet Windows based software will not run under Linux nor will Linux based software run under Windows.
Autodesk Maya is a powerful, integrated 3D modeling, animation, visual effects, and rendering software developed by Autodesk Inc. This integrated node based 3D software finds its application in the development of films, games, and design projects. A wide range of 3D visual effects, computer graphics, and character animation tools make it an ideal platform for 3D artists. The intuitive user interface and workflow tools of Maya have made the job of design visualization specialists a lot easier.
Autodesk software for macOS. Autodesk provides many native Mac products for 3D modeling, CAD, rendering, animation, VFX, and digital imagery. In addition, we provide full support for a number of products when used on the Mac in virtualized environments including Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion. We also support these products via Boot Camp, part of Mac OS X that lets you install and run Windows (and Windows-based applications) on a Mac.

An eligible individual must go to http://www.autodesk.com/education/student-software and register to get an account. Once properly registered, a confirmation email is sent to the email address supplied during registration. Review any instructions that may be included in the email message. Access to the Autodesk Education Community portal can then be accomplished by returning to the site and logging in (rather than joining and registering for an account).

NOTES:
Autodesk has changed their process to a single, sign-on method. If you already have Autodesk accounts, use only the credentials for the account you used to register and activate your software.
- You MUST DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT VERSION of software. Earlier versions cannot necessarily use files made from later versions; but later versions can use files made from earlier versions. ALSO, you should download the bit-version that matches your operating system. For example, if you are using a computer with Windows 7 Home Premium 64, then you should download the 64-bit version of the software. The 64-bit version WILL NOT INSTALL on a computer with a Windows 32-bit operating system.; and a computer with a 64-bit Windows operating sytem might have trouble installing and running the 32-bit software, even in compatibility mode.
- Mac Users take Note: In general, Autodesk products WORK ONLY WITH WINDOWS OPERATING SYSTEMS. Mac Users have to install a Windows operating system on their computer in order to use Autodesk products. This requires what is called a dual-boot configuration, or, requires a virtualization software package which allows a Windows operating system to be installed with Mac OS.
