If you are scheduled to appear before a Soldier/NCO board or a promotion board, you should know that the competition will be intense. The good news is that, since you have been selected you are considered to be one of the best soldiers in your troop or company. During an LOI test, SGS technical experts heat the sample at a specific temperature, collecting and measuring the moisture and volatiles that are released. The test continues until the mass of the sample ceases to change. Results of an SGS thermogravimetry, or thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), define the LOI in your samples.
This is a Word format version of a Memorandum of Instruction (MOI), NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Fiscal Year. It can be used as an example of a MOI, NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Board Quarter Fiscal Year if you ever need to write one. It can also be used to learn what you would need to do and know if you were in the competition. It also has an attachment with further information to help prepare you for the competition. This example MOI prescribes the procedures for the selection of the Brigade NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Candidates. The NCO/Soldier of the Quarter Board will convene at date convened. All board members will assemble at the 30 min prior.
